Following the LDF’s crushing defeat in the just-concluded Kerala assembly elections, outgoing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan voluntarily surrendered his official vehicle and police escort.

Upon arriving in Thiruvananthapuram airport from Kannur on Tuesday, Pinarayi Vijayan left for the Cliff House. He traveled from the airport to the Cliff House in a private car arranged by the AKG Centre, the CPI(M) state headquarters. Reports indicate he declined an official vehicle and a police escort.

At the airport, he was received by CPM leaders V. Sivankutty, A.A. Raheem, and V. Joy.

Though the media sought his response on the election outcome, the CM ignored the question, smiled, and left the airport.

Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to vacate the Cliff House, the CM’s official residence, on Wednesday and move to Chintha Flats where he used to stay while functioning as the CPM state secretary.

The chief minister resigned on Monday, after the LDF suffered a huge defeat in the assembly elections
